After overhauling their previous capstone event, the Co-op office needed to offer an opportunity to connect employers who were hiring with students who were seeking co-op work terms.

I was asked to take over as the project lead for this networking event in December 2018 and have since:

  • rebranded the event from January Networking Event to “LAUNCH;

  • streamlined event responsibilities by designating area captains, empowering each captain to be responsible for arranging the pre-event volunteer briefing, event day setup, tear-down, and more;

  • developed strategic marketing assets designed to boost registration within eligible student cohorts, targeting students in classes, within their learning module system (LMS), within the student newsletter, and on Instagram;

  • established the co-op office’s first event volunteer team to reduce staff hours required to set up and run the event;

  • captured visual assets with the help of a work/study team designed to celebrate the event on student-facing channels after the event, but also to build excitement for the event next term;

  • leveraged this content strategy to create employer-facing promotional videos;

  • implemented and incentivized a satisfaction survey for both students and employers in order to collect data on how to improve the next event, but also to provide some metrics for marketing purposes.
